What is a Nominee?

From files to photos, you can share everything you upload to Legado.  What you decide to share is up to you, and you can change people’s access permissions at any time. A Nominee is someone in your inner circle of friends, family or trusted advisers whom you have enough trust in to provide full or partial access to your libraries and folders of information.

Your wishes need to be shared for others to act on them.  Nominees are your trusted professionals, friends or family. They can help you on your journey through life and importantly at the end of your life. Making them a nominee allows them to be able to quickly and easily access your important documents, records and wishes so they can efficiently manage your affairs. You can choose to share individual files or entire libraries with your Nominees and revoke or grant access at any time.

If you were introduced through your Financial Adviser they will be your first Nominee and you will be able to choose what level of access they have to your libraries of information when you first take control of your account. After this, you will have the opportunity to add additional Nominees, such as other advisers like your Solicitor or family members, like your spouse. Once you have elected a Nominee for your account, we will contact them via email to invite them to Legado and view the libraries or documents you have chosen to share. This email states they are invited by yourself. From that point forward, unless otherwise instructed by yourself, they will be able to see the libraries or documents that you have explicitly invited them to have access to.  We recommend you inform nominees that you are inviting them before you set them up.

You may find it useful to invite the following individuals and trusted advisers to view whole or part of your libraries:

  • a spouse or partner
  • your grown children
  • your solicitor
  • your accountant
  • your power of attorney

You will have full control over how much you share with each Nominee.
